CD 1 and Day 5 Blastocysts

Yay, IVF is the only time when you get excited on your flow starting. I woke this morning to a full bleed, so I notified the nurse via the app on my iPhone. Tomorrow, I go in for baseline bloodwork/ultrasound and start the estrogen pills and patch on Saturday.I am so excited!!! February, the month of love, our potential baby will be implanted! Our FET will happen on February 17, 2017. This is a Friday and I will have the whole weekend to relax and hope for the best.

I called the acupuncturist and made weekly appointments leading up to the transfer and once I know the time of the transfer, will have acupuncture before and after.

Now, today at work, I am still dizzy and nauseated PLUS awful cramps. My flow is heavy today, something I am not used to, nor am I used to having cramps. There is a heating pad in my future when I get home.

Daily checkup call on our embryos and 10 blastocysts made it to biopsy and freeze. The 9 remaining are progressing slower and tomorrow they will freeze some of them that are ready. PGS testing takes 2 weeks to find out the results. We tested two extra to insure that we have an amble number of healthy embryos and also insure that we had more than one XX embryo as we really want a girl. I am dreaming of a little girl and can't wait to start decorating her nursery!

Our first FET (frozen embryo transfer) cycle after an IVF miscarriage:

Dizziness

Monday I arrived at work and about ten minutes later felt dizzy, nauseous and my vision started to blur. I honestly felt like I was on the verge of passing out. I notified the RE's office and they insisted I come in and I couldn't drive. Nick left work to come get me and I left my vehicle at my company.

I was having a reaction to the Dostinex and was told to not take anymore and given Zofran to use if needed for the dizziness. Apparently, I am one of the 1% who can't handle the medication. Dostinex has a long half life, so it will take up to a week to get out of my system. After the doctor's appointment, I went home and slept. Tuesday, I worked from home.

Also, 19/27 of the eggs were progressing normally. Great news!!

Post Egg retrieval

I actually felt good today. No pain, no bleeding and allot of the bloating had gone down. I also didn't need any pain medication until right before bedtime.
I went shopping today and got my hair done. While shopping, I received a call that 27/32 eggs had fertilized! I am so excited as I worried about the sperm sample that was submitted. We will get another update on day 3 and day 5. And we will need to make a decision on how many to test for PGS.

On Sunday, the Dostinex started making me dizzy and giving me blurred vision. My RE stated this was a side effect and if I needed to stop the medication prior to completion of the 8 days, I could.

Egg Retrieval on Inauguration Day

For the record, I would rather have a giant needle put through my vagina, into my uterus and remove eggs from my ovaries before I watched the inauguration of Donald Trump.

We needed to be at the surgery center at 6am for a 7am surgery time. Alarm was set for 4:30am in order for me to take a shower and Nick to release his sperm into a cup. We arrived on time and after showing ID, I was immediately brought back to a small room with a bathroom. I changed and wore cute grey socks with hearts on them. An IV was started and I was given anti nausea pill under my tongue. I have had surgeries previously and woke up vomiting from the anesthesia, so the Anesthesiologist put a patch behind my ear to prevent this when I woke up.  This worked in the past and this time as well. Ask for the patch!

I didn't bring anything with me, no purse or bag. Nick carried my DL and insurance card in his wallet. I was given a small hospital bag for my things that stayed in the room.
I was so nervous that my stomach was jumpy and I needed to do have  bowel movement as soon as I arrived. I walked back into the surgery room at 7:03 am, right on schedule. I don't remember being knocked out, but waking up later in recovery. The nurse gave me my things to change back into. I wore new GAP lounge pants and a large super soft hoodie with a soft bralette. I was given a pad in case of bleeding, but I haven't even had any spotting yet. The anesthesiologist gave me a shot with pain medication prior to me waking up, so I didn't have any pain.

32 eggs were retrieved!!

Dr Yeh came and talked to me and was very happy with egg quantity and wished he could get 32 from all his patients. I was concerned Nick's sperm sample didn't yield allot in the cup and he assured me that all they need is a tiny amount and it should be fine.  He told me to take the hydrocodone ahead of any pain, so I took a pill when I arrived home and took a small nap.

It's currently 2:10 pm and I feel fine. I will get updates on Days 1, 3 and 5 past retrieval. We are doing PGS on any embryos that survive to blastocysts on day 5. This cost $5500.00 for up to 8 embryos and have a 2 week wait time on results.

So now the waiting game starts. Waiting for my period to start the FET cycle and waiting for 5 days to see how many frosties we will have and then 2 weeks for results. Did I mention I don't have allot of patience!

Meds:
Continue taking Z-Pack for 4 days
Dostinex -1 per day for 8 days to help prevent hyperstimulation
