The Chinese believe the number eight to be a lucky number and there are two eights in the date that we transferred two beautiful embryos. Wishing for a rainbow.
I couldn't sleep the night before. My anxiety was getting the best of me.
The morning went smoothly. I made an omelet for everyone and then we brought Tristan to day camp. The surgery center opened a new wing just for transfer patients, so we were in quickly and I barely had enough time to drink my one liter of water before the doctor was ready for me. The actual procedure was more painful this time than I remembered the last two times. As I squeezed my husband's hand, it felt like Edward Scissorhands was up my vagina. And just like that, that beautiful flash of light on the monitor showed both embryos had been transferred into their new home to hopefully stay the next nine months.
The nurses were so chirpy at the center. Most thought it was my first transfer until we had to say it was our third.
We arrived home and the peonies I ordered to celebrate our transfer day were delivered. I needed something beautiful to watch bloom over the course of the day and the next few days. The subtle smell of the flowers were a nice touch. The rest of the day included having my husband do everything while I relaxed on the couch on a Netflix binge (as instructed per my doctor) and taking a three hour nap to make up for lost time the night before.
I feel at peace. I don't feel anxious about taking a pregnancy test and worried that this will not work. It just feels right. I hope so anyways, time will tell.
Changes made to my protocol this time:
1. Estrodial injections over pills and patches
2. No acupuncture
3. 8oz of pomagrante juice daily this cycle leading up to transfer
4. Drinking only alkaline water from day before transfer to beyond
5. Pineapple core/ slices for 5 days after transfer
6. Added Vitamin E to prenatal vitamin regime
Why pineapple? Bromelain is a Protease plant enzyme, found in the core of the pineapple fruit. Bromelain is anti-inflammatory and has been shown to increase cervical mucous.
